Handgun Carry Permits

TN Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit

This course meets the requirements to apply for the TN Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit, which is currently recognized in 37 states. This course is 6-8 hours in length and is open to Tennessee residents 18 and older. Students must pass a 50 question written exam and a 50 round shooting qualification. Course topics include:

Do I have to be an experienced shooter to get a permit?

You do not have to have any experience with a firearm to take this course. We teach you how to safely handle a handgun, the rules of firearms safety, how to load and clear it, how to correct malfunctions, and how to shoot using the proper fundamentals.

Do I have to carry the same handgun I qualify with?

No, you may qualify with any handgun, so long as it is legal and safe to operate. Our instructors reserve the right to inspect all firearms used in class to ensure safe operation.

I do not currently own a firearm; can I still take the class?

Yes, we have loaner handguns available. For safety reasons, we do require that you purchase the ammunition from us.

What states accept Tennessee permits?

Tennessee has reciprocity agreements with most states in the United States. The TN Department of homeland security maintains a list of these states, but we highly recommend that you check with the state you are traveling to before carrying your firearm on your person.
