Wilderness Search & Rescue

Learn how to properly help!

Finding a dead body is a failure, not a rescue! Many professional rescuers and volunteers find themselves doing a recovery rather than a rescue when searching for lost persons. Sadly, many lost persons are found dead within a mile of their starting point.

Many search operations fail because they are plagued with jurisdictional pride between agencies, communication  failures between professional rescuers and volunteers, and improper use of resources.

This 2 day / 1 night course teaches volunteers and professional rescuers the skill set and knowledge to work side by side in land search operations for missing persons. You will be living out of your backpack for the duration of this course and participating in a simulated wilderness search and rescue operation.

Upon completion, you will possess the skill set and knowledge to to take a nationally recognized certification exam.

This course is taught in our 11,000+ acre special use permit area in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area by experienced instructors who are members of the National Association of Search & Rescue.
